Behind the Theme: A Letter from our Director of Children’s Programming

Crossings is excited to announce our 2015 Kids Camp theme: Life in Color! This will be an exciting time in the life of Crossings Kids’ Camp with the opening of our first full-summer kids’ camp. Our new Director of Children’s Programming, Rochell Goff, tells more about the heart of Crossings Kids, the motivation for Life in Color and the upcoming future.

“My name is Rochell Goff and I am the new Director of Children’s programming. This is a brand new position and speaks to the heart that Crossings has for kids’ camp. I know that Crossings 2014 has yet to happen, and I am really excited about all that the Lord is going to do in the lives of adults, students and kids. Here at Crossings, we are praying for the upcoming summer and ALL the people that are going to be on our properties. Yet, I would like to take a moment to talk about Crossings 2015.

In 2015, Crossings is launching a full summer of kids’ camp at our Cedarmore property. This new camp is located on our Cedarmore property, but it will be a new property that will be dedicated solely to kids’ camp. While student camp is running on the main property, kids’ sessions will also be happening. Also, we will have two sessions of kids’ camp at our Jonathan Creek property.

This new camp will have everything you love about Crossings; we will be sharing the Gospel with kids, building relationships with everyone who is in attendance and striving towards excellence in all we do. This new camp will have everything focused on kids: the programming, the worship, the curriculum – everything will be kid friendly. Crossings is in a pursuit to see the Gospel proclaimed, and to help your students cross over from death to life (John 5:24). Your students will also get to enjoy all of the fun recreation activities that you have come to know and love at our properties. Crossings understands that kids are different from middle and high school students. We are in the midst of creating a camp that is uniquely geared toward your elementary students.

On February 1, 2014, we launched the brand new 2015 kids’ camp website — www.gocrossings.org/kidscamp2015/. This is a great spot to look for up-to-date information, including 2015 camp dates. In fact, you can now register for 2015 camp dates either online or by phone, and there is no deposit required until Fall.

The theme for Crossings Kids Camp 2015 is Life in Color. We are going to be talking about how before Christ we have a black and white existence; we are dead in our trespasses and sins, but with Christ we are alive. He brings color to our lives. Through Christ, we have A LIFE IN COLOR. The name Crossings comes out of John 5:24 “Very truly I tell you, whoever hears my word and believes Him who sent me has eternal life and will not be judged but has crossed over from death to life.” Romans 5:8 says, “But God demonstrates His own love for us in this: While we were still sinners, Christ died for us.” We are going to be exploring who we are before Christ and who we are after He changes us forever. Crossings’ prayer for your students is that they would experience life change. Camp is a fantastic place to see life change happen, free from the distractions of home. I hope you and your students will join us in 2015 at Crossings Kids Camp!  Also, I look forward to meeting you this summer at Crossings.”
