LEAD: The Leadership Experience

Jonathan Creek: Crossings Week 2, Day 2. June 12, 2012.Our mission states, “We exist to proclaim the Gospel through partnering with churches to make disciples and equip leaders.”

We strive to live out this mission each and every day through the countless areas of our ministry. It was this heart and core that led us to focus this summer on one key area of our mission – we exist to proclaim the Gospel. We desire to see everyone who attends camp this summer grow in their understanding of the Gospel and their own mission to proclaim.

This summer we have also committed to take that mission one step further at camp. Our goal has always been to aid the church in the raising up and training of its leaders, especially among the youth. With this is mind, this summer we are launching LEAD: The Leadership Experience.

LEAD is a program specifically designed for upcoming, and recently graduated, seniors who are leaders within your youth groups. It is a specialized track at student camp that is meant to take those students who are already leaders within the church and allow them a chance to be uniquely encouraged and invested in by our Crossings Summer Staff.

In order to be a part of the LEAD program, students must be recommended by their youth leader. Only those recommended will be accepted. Once accepted, students will still attend camp with their church, but will be given a specialized schedule with other LEAD students during that week. LEAD students will stay in the lodging with their churches and attend morning celebration with them as well. They will also participant in morning Bible study as every other student. However, they will spend the afternoon in a specialized rotation with the other LEAD students. They will spend time in a leadership class, working on focused service projects and simply having fun at the Waterfront. Finally, after afternoon rotations, LEAD students will join back up with the churches and participate in the rest of the evening with them.

Our desire is to see LEAD students encouraged and equipped as leaders; to see them enter their senior year of high school, or freshman year of college, prepared to proclaim the Gospel and make disciples.

If you have a student you would like to recommend for the LEAD program this summer, talk to your youth leader. They have been given a link to the recommendation form that can be found in their Group Leader Packet online.
